MY RUIN Members Guest On ANA KEFR Debut

Riverside, California-based philosophy-metal band ANA KEFR — featuring lead vocalist/keyboardist Rhiis Lopez, drummer Bryce Loeffler and guitarists Kyle Coughran and Trent Pichel — has posted audio samples (see below) from its self-produced full-length debut album, titled "Volume 1".

Recorded at Dinky Music Recording Studios in Corona, California, "Volume 1" is "a 14-track philosophy-book-turned-epic-metal-album," according to a press release. It is "a unique journey through the sonic soundscapes of metal infused with Middle Eastern flavor, symphonic passion and controversial lyricism dealing with weighty subject matter embedded with cynical, yet winking humanism."

The album was mixed and mastered by Billie Stevens (HANDSOME DEVIL, WANK) and features a cover of ROLLINS BAND's "Step Back", with a special appearance by MY RUIN guitarist Mick Murphy and lead screamer Tairrie B.

When asked by U.K. magazine Screaming Tarts who she recommended as a band to watch in 2009 during a recent interview, Tairrie had this to say: "ANA KEFR, a young band with a unique sound and outlook when it comes to their music which they refer to as 'philosophy metal'. Drawing influences from classic to heavy rock, it is lead vocalist/keyboardist Rhiis Lopez that gives this band the beauty within their chaos. With his razor sharp tongue and poignant edgy lyrical content, Rhiis's style reminds me of Henry Rollins-meets-Mike Patton, writing from an inspired, true-life perspective which leaves their songs almost feeling like they were penned by someone well beyond his and one of the main things which separates this band from many of the so-called 'art rock' bands who pour out of California with depressing regularity in their same genre. ANA KEFR are pure operatic angst with a touch of pro individual self expressionism."
